The campaign aimed at making women feel more beautiful by widening the stereotypical definition of wat beauty is.
For this, society was put to blame by narrowly defining beauty with the images bombarded by the media and the startling impact this has on women worldwide.
- 84% of teenage girls wish that they could change their appearance.
- 60% of them feel bad about themselves because of looks or weight
- one fourth of the girls report dieting before reaching the age of 17
- 1 in 5 Singaporean girls would consider having plastic surgery
Beauty, actually, is not all about what the media portrays.
The Dove Self-Esteem Fund is created to support educational programs set in the direction of it's cause. It supports both preventive and curative programs, for instance, the eating disorders awareness programme that will educate and inspire girls on a wider definition of beauty.
Beauty is subjective. Creation of which depends on perception.

In the fashion industry, attention seems to focus more on the body size of the models than the design of the apparel. Critics that stick thin models encourages eating disorders have cause Milan & Madrid to ban skinny models from taking the runway.
Is this discrimination? Are they sending the right message? isn't education a better approach?
